[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung BioLogics has decided to fully operate its fourth plant, which boasts the world's largest production volume based on a single plant, in early June.

If the fourth plant (240,000ℓ) is fully operated next month following partial operation in October last year, Samsung BioLogics will secure a global "super gap" with the world's largest consignment production (CMO) production capacity of 604,000ℓ.

The construction of Plant 5 (180,000ℓ), the beginning of the second bio campus, will also begin in the first half of the year. Samsung BioLogics' management is expected to speed up further as it is aggressively winning orders, with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visiting the U.S. and meeting with global Big Pharma management in person.

After the groundbreaking ceremony for the fourth plant in November 2020, Samsung Biologics moved up the deadline for completion in the first half of this year. It is heard that the construction period of the fourth plant has been reduced by 40-50% compared to the same industry through the know-how of the construction of the first, second and third plants. Due to the increase in expected sales due to partial operation of its fourth plant, Samsung BioLogics raised its business performance outlook for this year from 3.3765 trillion won to 3.5265 trillion won.
