[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Wia, a component company affiliated with Hyundai Motor Group, announced on the 16th that it has developed a cooling water hub module, a heat management system exclusively for electric vehicles, and has started mass production.
Electric vehicles have huge batteries, so heat management is important. Hyundai Wia emphasized that it is the first Korean auto parts maker to produce cooling water hub modules. The cooling water hub module made by Hyundai Wia will be mounted on Kia EV9 and Hyundai Motor's Kona EV.
Hyundai Wia produces cooling water hub modules at Changwon Plant 1 in Gyeongsangnam-do. The annual output is 210,000 units. It is a component that efficiently integrates and manages the heat of electric vehicle batteries, drive devices, and electronic components.
Hyundai Wia is focusing on developing a heat management system in line with the transition to the electric vehicle era. Hyundai Wia plans to develop an 'integrated heat management system' that covers motors, batteries and indoor air conditioning by 2025. To that end, a heat management test building will be built at the Uiwang Research Institute in Gyeonggi Province next month.
