[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The solar energy business, which Samsung C&T started in the U.S. since 2018, has recently doubled, serving as a good performance.
According to the industry on the 17th, Samsung C&T's commercial division sold $ 20 million in the first quarter of this year. It is similar to the total solar sales revenue in 2021. Sales revenue is growing 118% from $ 22 million in 2021 to $ 48 million last year.
The solar energy development project is a model that builds solar energy infrastructure in advance and makes money by selling it to local operators. Samsung C&T's commercial division successfully completed a 1,369MW renewable power complex in Ontario, Canada, in 2018 in preparation for the blooming of the eco-friendly energy market.
Based on this experience, the U.S. has also begun to develop a solar energy development project that plans and commercializes solar power projects in earnest. It has secured a 13GW solar pipeline (agenda for development) by last year and plans to increase its size to 25GW by 2025.
