[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Cho Byung-kyu, CEO of Woori Financial Capital, has been named the new president of Woori Bank. Analysts say that Woori Financial Group Chairman Lim Jong-ryong, who aims to become a "power of corporate finance," has selected CEO Cho, who has an old hand in sales and has gone through key bank tasks such as strategy, planning and compliance monitoring, as the new president.

Woori Financial Group held a recommendation committee for the CEO of its subsidiary on the 26th and recommended CEO Cho as a candidate for the bank president. It will be appointed at the general meeting of shareholders on the 3rd of next month. The term is until the end of December 2024.

Cho joined the commercial bank in 1992 after graduating from Gwanak High School and Kyung Hee University's Department of Economics. He served as head of the corporate branch of Woori Bank, head of the strategic planning department, and vice president of the management planning group and industrial group. In March, he was appointed as a representative of Woori Financial Capital, a subsidiary.

Nominee Cho said, "We will do our best to revive Woori Bank's prestigious corporate finance family and do our best to create a new corporate culture with Chairman Lim."
