[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The portion of internal transaction sales of affiliates of the chicken franchise "Maxican Chicken," headed by Oh Soo-jung, wife of Harim Group Chairman Kim Hong-kook, is nearly 80 percent, the report showed. Harim Holdings owns a 100% stake in Mexican.
According to a large business group status disclosure released by Harim Group on the 1st, internal sales of Harim Group affiliates stood at 2.51 billion won out of 3.282 billion won in annual sales last year, accounting for 76.48% of its total sales.
Except for internal transactions, there is little sales In other words, Maxican, an affiliate of Cifi, is barely surviving through a private contract with Harim Distribution.
Internal transactions themselves are not a problem. However, if there is a difference in the terms and amount of transactions, such as buying products of affiliates at a high price to support affiliates within a large business group, it can be a problem.
If it is abused as a means of helping affiliates with poor internal transactions through excessive work-driving support, it can prevent fair competition.
Mexican has signed a contract with Harim Distribution for 2.51 billion won in sales, including ▲ sauce and powder (2.27 billion won) ▲ trademark fees (251 million won) and import fees (32 million won).
Although Maxican generated 2.5 billion won in sales through internal transactions, the trademark fee paid to Harim Holdings was only 2 million won per year.
Maximan, which started with Gyeseong Chicken in Hyomok-dong, Daegu in 1985, was incorporated into Harim Holdings Group in 2016 when Harim Holdings (currently Harim Holdings) acquired a 100% stake for 2.7 billion won.
In the same year, Kim's wife, Oh Soo-jung, was listed as Mexicanan CEO, and became a co-representative system in March last year when Jung Sam-mo, a Mexicanan auditor, was newly appointed as Mexicanan CEO. Chung Sam-mo, CEO of Mexican, also serves as CEO of Harim Distribution.
An official of Harim Group said, "The internal transactions with Maxican are conducted fairly and transparently in accordance with the laws and procedures, so there is no problem."
Earlier last year, the Fair Trade Commission imposed a fine of 4.888 billion won, judging that Harim's affiliates unfairly supported all products and provided unfair profits. This product is an affiliate of Kim Joon-young, the eldest son of Chairman Kim Hong-guk's one son and three daughters, with a 100% stake.
