[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on the 4th that it will participate in the International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX 2023), which will be held in BEXCO, Busan from the 7th to the 9th, and showcase the model of the next-generation ship for the first time.

The vessels to be unveiled at this exhibition are the next-generation Korean destroyer (KDDX), which is being developed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, an unmanned power command control ship whose concept will be unveiled for the first time, a Korean aircraft carrier further upgraded from the existing model, and a patrol ship (OPV) for export.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has been carrying out the basic design of the Navy's core future power, the KDDX 1, in March 2020. The KDDX model, which was unveiled this time, optimized system integration by applying an integrated mast and a combat system under development in Korea, and adopted the 'large-capacity and high-power integrated electrical propulsion system' for the first time in Korea.

The biggest feature is that it has been created as a "future expansionary platform" to facilitate additional installation of future weapons systems and future platform performance improvements depending on technological development.

The unmanned power command and control ship, the first to be unveiled at the MADEX 2023, is a state-of-the-art vessel that can carry out unmanned reconnaissance missions at sea, underwater and in the air using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), unmanned aerial vehicles (USV), and unmanned submarines (UUV).

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries expects to play a major role in setting the direction of the manned and unmanned complex system construction project being pushed by the Navy by preemptively proposing the concept of an unmanned power command and control ship.
