[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electronics has replaced the head of the development division of memory semiconductor DRAM and foundry (semiconductor consignment production).

According to Samsung Electronics on March 3, the device solution (DS) division conducted a vice president-level executive appointment on the same day. The head of the DRAM development department in charge of DRAM development has been replaced by Hwang Sang-joon, vice president of strategic marketing at the memory division. Yoo Chang-sik, vice president of the leading development team, Oh Tae-young, vice president of the design team, and Yoon Ha-ryong, vice president of the strategic marketing office, will head the team.

There was also a wind of change in the foundry business. Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be Jeong Ki-tae, vice president of technology development at the foundry division. Koo Ja-heum, vice president of the Foundry Technology Development Office, was appointed as head of the technology development office.

Industry sources say that Samsung Electronics' surprise greeting reflects a sense of crisis in the semiconductor sector, including its memory division.

In the case of the DRAM business, the pursuit of competitors such as SK Hynix and Micron is becoming fierce, and the ultra-gap power that Samsung Electronics has been pursuing is shaking.
