[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, an intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai, has won a contract to build a floating oil production facility (FPU) worth 1.5 trillion won to be installed in eastern Mexico.
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said on March 3 that it recently signed a contract with Australian energy company Woodside Energy to build an FPU 1. It is the first time in two years that HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has signed a contract to build an offshore plant since it won a contract to build a semi-submersible crude oil production facility (FPS) from a U.S. oil developer for 660 billion won in August 2021.
The construction cost of FPU, which was ordered by HD Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, is 1.5663 trillion won, which is 17.3% of last year's sales (9.4555 trillion won) of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, an affiliate that will be in charge of production.
