[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Motor Group's overall sales of electric vehicles have dropped noticeably, drawing attention.

According to Hyundai Motor's sales data on the 5th, the mid-sized electric sedan Ioniq 6 sold 491 units in Korea last month. This is a 78% drop compared to March (2,200 units), when sales were the highest this year.

Considering that the Ionic 6 set a milestone of more than 37,000 units on the first day of the pre-contract alone, it is pointed out that such a sharp drop in sales is much steeper than expected.

In fact, last year's sales decline and this year's decline are clearly different.

Hyundai Motor has sold Ionic 6 in earnest since September last year, and sold 11,289 units in less than six months. On the other hand, cumulative sales in the January-June period stood at 6,779 units, or 60 percent of last year.
