[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The financial company with the largest number of embezzlement accidents in the first half of this year was the mutual financial sector, the report showed.
According to data submitted by the Financial Supervisory Service on the 11th, a total of 32 cases of embezzlement by financial companies were reported in the first six months of this year. Twenty-one of these were in the mutual financial sector. Thirteen cases (613 million won) occurred in Nonghyup and eight cases (439 million won) in Shinhyup.
Nine cases occurred in the banking sector, but the banking sector accounted for the largest amount of 1.61 billion won. Shinhan Bank (one case, 717 million won) had the largest amount of embezzlement in the first half of this year. In addition, one case each occurred at OK Savings Bank (251 million won) and Korate Asset Management (160 million won).
Misappropriation accidents in the mutual financial sector occur more often each year than in other financial sectors. Looking at embezzlement accidents in the financial sector over the past five years since 2018, the number of embezzlements in mutual financial sectors has always been the highest except in 2020.
