[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Ocean announced on the 12th that it has localized submarine core sound equipment such as sound measuring device, sound detector beacon, and launch type underwater environmental measuring device.
With this localization, the Jangbogo 3 Batch 2 submarine, which is currently being built by Hanwha Ocean, is expected to have a localization rate of more than 80%. 76.2% of Jangbogo 3 Batch 1 Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, which was built and operated earlier, was made with domestic technology.
In particular, localized sound equipment is a type of sonar and is an important equipment directly related to submarine survival. Submarines use sound waves to explore their surroundings when moving underwater. Sound detectors are like the eyes of submarines.
"The localization of submarine sound equipment will greatly contribute to enhancing maritime defense capabilities," a Hanwha Ocean official said. "We will contribute to Korea's independent national defense through continuous localization."
