[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Signet will supply more than 1,000 new ultra-fast chargers to the United States. SK Signet is currently the number one player in the US electric vehicle ultra-fast charging market.
SK Signet announced on the 17th that it has signed a contract to supply ultra-fast chargers with Francis Energy, a US fast charger operator. By 2027, the company will supply at least 1,000 chargers of the 400kW class, its flagship product. It is known to exceed 100 billion won in amount.
Francis Energy is the fourth fastest charging company in the United States and operates more than 550 chargers in eight states. The project is mainly to build a rapid charging station on a local highway. It plans to expand its business to the next 25 states.
The contract became the first benefit of the Biden government's Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Expansion Policy (NEVI). More than half of the total supplies are expected to be subsidized under the NEVI program.
SK Signet has a production plant in Texas, USA. It can produce 10,000 ultra-fast chargers annually. It was completed last month and started mass production this month.
