[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Asiana Airlines' management and pilot's labor union have reached a tentative agreement on wage negotiations in 2022 and have decided to temporarily suspend the general strike planned by the union on the 24th. As a result, we have avoided the 'air turbulence' that was feared ahead of the summer vacation season.

According to Asiana Airlines and its pilots' union on the 19th, the two sides agreed to raise basic salaries by 2.5% and flight allowances by 2.5% in the 26th round of labor-management negotiations held at Asiana Airlines' headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul the previous day.

The tentative agreement on wage increases also included the payment of 50% of safety incentives and the expansion of additional welfare benefits.

"We welcome the tentative agreement between labor and management," an Asiana Airlines official said. "As the agreement has been reached, we will create win-win labor-management relations and ensure safe operations during the peak season."

The union has decided to suspend the strike, which was intended to go into effect by increasing the intensity of the law-abiding struggle from the 24th.

The union plans to hold a briefing session and a vote on the tentative agreement over the next two weeks to reach a final conclusion after listening to the union members' opinions.
