[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Coupang reported CJ Olive Young to the Fair Trade Commission for violating the large-scale distribution law. It is claimed that Olive Young, Korea's No. 1 health and beauty (H&B), has hindered small and medium-sized beauty companies from entering Coupang.

According to the distribution industry on the 24th, Coupang reported to the Fair Trade Commission on the grounds that Olive Young banned delivery or continued to give trade disadvantages to beauty companies that want to deliver their products to Coupang from 2019.

CJ Olive Young is a de facto monopolistic company, accounting for 71.3% of the domestic H&B market (as of the first quarter of this year).

CJ Olive Young refuted Coupang's claim, saying it was "groundless." "Olive Young has not restricted its partners' entry into other distribution channels, including Coupang," a CJ Olive Young official said. "We will actively respond as soon as we confirm Coupang's report."
