[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Solidigm, a subsidiary of SK Hynix, announced on the 24th that it will launch 'D5-P5336', a solid state drive (SSD) for the world's largest quadruple level cell (QLC) data center.

Solidigm has introduced a variety of new products ranging from 7.68 terabytes (TB) to up to 61.44 TB capacity. The company explains that up to six times more data can be stored in the same space than a hard disk drive (HDD). Compared to the triple-level cell (TLC)-based SSD, twice as much data can be stored in the same space based on the same speed standard.

SSD is a device that stores information using flash memory. It is a type of auxiliary memory device that helps main memory devices such as RAM and ROM. It is made by combining NAND flash and controller. It is a replacement for a hard disk drive (HDD) that uses mechanical parts (rotated disks) to store information. Heat generation, noise is less and data processing speed is faster than HDD.

NAND is divided into single-level cell (SLC), multi-level cell (MLC), TLC, QLC, etc. depending on how many bits of information (bit) a cell can contain. QLC stores four bits in one cell, more than TLC (3 bits) Bonnie can support more capacity in the same space. The price is cheaper.
