[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Twelve executives, including the CEO of Neom, who is in charge of building Neom City in Saudi Arabia, visited Korea all at once. It's big enough to hold a board meeting.
It is to resolve doubts about the project and encourage active participation of Korean companies in the wake of the Seoul Neom City exhibition, which will be held for the first time in Asia.
NEOM management held a media conference at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul on the 25th, a day before the opening of the NEOM exhibition and stressed that the NEOM project is being realized in detail.
The Neom City project is a project to build a low-carbon smart city 44 times the size of Seoul near the Red Sea in northwestern Saudi Arabia, with a total project cost of more than 640 trillion won.
Saudi Arabia is pushing for four large-scale projects in Neom, including △The Line, a linear new city.
As a result, companies from all over the world, including South Korea, are seeking opportunities to win orders.
Currently, Samsung C&T and Hyundai Engineering & Construction are working on the "The Line" infrastructure tunnel. The Line is a project to create a straight city with a distance of 170㎞. In addition, Hanmi Global participates in general program management (PMO).
Several construction companies, including Samsung C&T and Hyundai Engineering & Construction, are also challenging new bids for the Neom project.
An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, "Since one company presented an average of three projects to Neom, we presented about 300 projects to Neom."
