[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Motor and Samsung's future car alliance will be expressed at the Genesis GV90.

The GV90 is the next generation electric car being developed by Hyundai Motor. It is the first large electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) to be introduced as a Genesis brand. Samsung's advanced parts are used to implement Hyundai's next-generation flagship SUV.

According to the industry on the 24th, Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display are identified as Genesis GV90s that supply application processors (AP) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) displays for vehicles, respectively.

In May, Samsung Display's 25-inch OLED and AP developed by Samsung Electronics were known to be applied to Hyundai Motor, and this is the first time that a vehicle subject to specific application has been confirmed.

The Genesis GV90 is a large electric SUV scheduled for release in 2025. It is the top line-up of Hyundai Motor's premium brand Genesis and is known to be equipped with an electric vehicle-only platform called "eM" under development by Hyundai Motor Group.

The semiconductor that Samsung Electronics supplies to GV90 is 'Exynos Auto V920', a processor for infotainment (IVI). It provides real-time driving information, video, games, etc. to drivers.

This is the first time that Samsung Electronics' semiconductor for IVI is applied to Hyundai Motor. It is rare for the two companies, which had distanced themselves due to competitive relations in the past, to work together, but considering the characteristics of the finished car industry, which requires not only performance but also high reliability, it is also unusual for Samsung's semiconductors to be used in strategic models.
