[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LS Group will invest 1.84 trillion won in the Saemangeum National Industrial Complex to build a manufacturing facility for the site.

The Saemangeum Development Agency and Jeonbuk Province, Gunsan City, and Korea Rural Community Corporation signed an investment agreement with LS Group on the 2nd. LS Group plans to build a factory in Saemangeum Industrial Complex 5 (338,928㎡) by the end of this year and hire 1,450 new employees.

The signing ceremony also held an investment agreement ceremony for the construction of a manufacturing facility for secondary battery anode materials (precursor) for LS-L&F battery solutions, an investment project for the production of primary precursors. Electrospheres are one of the key materials that serve as raw materials for bipolar materials, which are secondary battery materials.

"The government will actively support corporate investment in Saemangeum by pushing for the establishment of logistics infrastructure such as roads and railways without a hitch," said Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Won Hee-ryong. "We will do our best for the development of the secondary battery industry that will be responsible for Korea's future food and companies that have invested in Saemangeum," said Kim Kyung-ahn, head of the Saemangeum Development Administration.
