SK Chemicals turned to a deficit of 13.8 billion won in operating loss in the second quarter

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Chemicals made an announcement on the 4th that it turned into a deficit compared to the same period last year with consolidated operating loss of 13.8 billion won in the second quarter. Sales fell 25.9 percent to 371.3 billion won.

Except for its subsidiary SK Bioscience, it recorded sales of 309 billion won and operating profit of 19.7 billion won. Sales and operating profit fell 5.1% and 4.1% year-on-year.

"Despite the difficult business environment caused by the global economic downturn, the polyester division has implemented a portfolio centered on high value-added products," the company said. "In the pharmaceutical sector, we have defended our performance by continuing to sell well."
