[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] As Korean defense companies are making inroads into foreign markets, they are creating local subsidiaries and production bases. Recently, as European countries have increased their purchases of domestic weapons, they are trying to establish a foothold for entering Europe.

According to the defense industry on the 8th, Hanwha Aerospace completed the registration process for a local European corporation in Poland in the first half of this year.

It is analyzed that Hanwha Aerospace chose to expand its European market with Poland at the center.

Poland signed a contract worth a total of 8 trillion won, including K9 self-propelled howitzers and Cheonmu, through Hanwha Aerospace last year. Recently, negotiations have also been underway to export Redback, the next-generation armored vehicle.

Domestic defense companies, as well as Hanwha Aerospace, have recently set up local bases to enter overseas markets. The Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) also established an office in Poland last month. It is said to be in charge of technical support for the light aircraft FA-50 sold to Poland. Hanwha Aerospace is building an armored vehicle production facility in Australia.

Hanwha Aerospace's Polish subsidiary is also expected to be used as a production base. Poland has reportedly signed a contract with a Korean defense company and is demanding that a production plant be built.
