[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] KOSPI-listed company Netmarble announced on the 8th that its operating loss in the second quarter of this year was KRW 37.2 billion, up from KRW 34.7 billion in the same period last year and KRW 28.2 billion in the previous quarter.
Sales fell 8.7 percent on-year to 63.3 billion won, up 0.1 percent from the previous quarter. Net loss decreased to 44.1 billion won.
The proportion of sales by region was 52% in North America, 14% in Korea, 12% in Europe, 10% in Southeast Asia, 6% in Japan, and 6% in other regions.
By genre, casual games accounted for 48%, role-playing games (RPG) for 30%, multi-access role-playing games (MMORPG) for 13%, and other genres for 9%.
The total operating cost for the second quarter was 640.5 billion won, down 7.9 percent from a year earlier and up 1.5 percent from the previous quarter.
By detailed item, payment fees accounted for the largest portion (39.8%) with 240.3 billion won, followed by labor costs (32%) and marketing costs (18.7%).
