[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Lotte BioLogics has doubled its number of executives and employees compared to the previous year as it began to expand its workforce in earnest to mark the second year of its establishment this year.
As he is a latecomer of biopharmaceutical consignment development (CDMO), the "carrot policy", which gives stock options (stock purchase options) to executives and employees before listing, is believed to have been effective.
However, there is a long way to go compared to Samsung Biologics and Celltrion, the leaders. Compared to the two companies, it is significantly lagging behind in the number of employees. Some point out that the supply and demand of human resources is not smooth due to the limited supply of quality bio personnel in Korea. It is observed that it will not be easy to narrow the gap as the supply and demand of bio workers in Korea is limited.
According to the pharmaceutical bio industry on the 9th, Lotte BioLogics had more than 100 employees on the same day. Since the establishment of the company in June last year, there have been about 50 people at the end of the year, but it has nearly doubled in half a year.
Lotte BioLogics has begun to expand its workforce in earnest for the second year of its establishment this year. In March, the company continued to hire experienced workers while conducting public recruitment. In particular, it also introduced an unconventional policy to give stock options to all executives and employees before listing. In large companies, it is unusual to expand the stock option grant target to all executives and employees, which was usually considered the exclusive property of executives.
It also means that it is difficult to secure manpower as a latecomer. Although the number of executives and employees has increased significantly this year, it is not enough to narrow the gap with domestic CDMO leaders such as Samsung Biologics and Celltrion. The gap in the number of employees is up to 46 times.
