[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Buyoung founder Lee Joong-geun and other businessmen were listed on the list of people eligible for the National Liberation Day special pardon.

According to legal circles on the 9th, the amnesty review committee held a meeting at the Gwacheon Government Complex of the Ministry of Justice from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to select those eligible for the special pardon.

Among businessmen, Booyoung Group founder Lee Joong-keun, Kumho Petrochemical Group Honorary Chairman Park Chan-koo and former Taekwang Group Chairman Lee Ho-jin passed the screening.

Lee Jang-han, chairman of Chong Kun Dang, was also included in the list of pardons.

However, Choi Ji-sung, former head of Samsung Electronics' Future Strategy Office, and Jang Choong-ki, former deputy head of the Future Strategy Office, who were involved in the Park Geun-hye administration's manipulation of state affairs, were excluded from the list.

Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon will soon report to President Yoon Seok-yeol the list of candidates for the special envoy's proposal selected through the amnesty review committee. It will then be pardoned at midnight the following day after a resolution by the Cabinet meeting next week.
