[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hyundai Mobis won the first order of 5 trillion won worth of core parts for electric vehicles from Volkswagen, Germany.

Hyundai Mobis won its first order for 5 trillion won worth of key components for electric vehicles from Volkswagen, Germany, a global leading carmaker. It is the largest order for electric vehicle parts ever.

Hyundai Mobis announced on the 9th that it will deliver 'Battery System (BSA)', a key component of electric vehicles, to Volkswagen. The battery system will be installed on Volkswagen's next-generation electric vehicle platform. The industry estimates 500,000 units per year for long-term contracts for more than five years and orders amounting to 5 trillion won.

Hyundai Mobis plans to build a new production base near its Volkswagen plant in Spain to supply battery systems with board approval by the end of this year.

The electric vehicle component that Hyundai Mobis won this time is a battery system (BSA). It is a component that measures and manages battery performance and is considered the core of electric vehicles. Hyundai Mobis has BSA production capacity that can be applied to both eco-friendly cars such as hybrid cars and pure electric vehicles. It is also known to supply battery management systems to Stellatis, the world's fourth-largest automaker with Jeep in the U.S. and Peugeot in France.
