[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Toss Bank announced on the 14th that it has detected more than 600 fake IDs over the past six months with its own artificial intelligence (AI) technology-based system.
The Toss Bank system enables real-time detection if an ID photo submitted by a customer in the process of opening an account does not match the reality or is a fake that retakes a smartphone or monitor screen.
AI experts and data scientists from Toss Bank began development in June last year and were officially introduced in February this year. Customers who submit fake IDs are not allowed to engage in all Toss Bank financial transactions, including opening accounts, until they have completed re-verification.
"Considering that the average amount of damage per victim of financial fraud reaches 20 million won, we have prevented potential damage of up to 12 billion won," a Toss Bank official said. "We will spare no effort to provide safe financial services in the future."
