Samsung SDI recruited former Cornell University professor Joo Yong-rak as vice president of the institute

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung SDI recruited Joo Yong-rak, a former professor of chemical engineering at Cornell University, as an in-house research institute executive.

According to Samsung SDI on the 16th, the company recruited former professor Joo as vice president as an expert at the SDI Institute in charge of research and development.

Joo is a battery material expert who graduated from Seoul National University's Department of Chemical Engineering in 1989 and has served as a master's and doctorate at Stanford University.

He joined Hanwha Chemical in 1993 and worked as a senior research engineer for six years, and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for two years from 1999.

He was appointed as a professor of chemical engineering at Cornell University in 2001 and served as an assistant dean of engineering at Cornell University last year before joining Samsung SDI.
