A worker in his 30s died at Seah Steel's Gunsan plant

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] An explosion occurred in the Seah Steel River located in Osikdo-dong, Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do, killing a worker in his 30s.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 16th, an explosion occurred at the Seah Steel Gunsan plant at around 1:15 p.m.

In the accident, the cover exploded due to an unknown cause during the 8-meter construction, killing a subcontractor A (37) who was working on the cover, and three employees suffered minor injuries.

The workplace is where more than 50 full-time workers work and is subject to the Severe Accident Punishment Act.

In response, the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office dispatched a metropolitan and medium-sized disaster prevention department and a labor supervisor from the military branch office to check the details of the accident and suspend work.

It also plans to immediately launch an investigation into the cause of the accident, the violation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Severe Accident Punishment Act and take strict measures.

Earlier in March, two workers who were removing dust inside the combustion tower of the SeAH Besteel Gunsan plant, an affiliate of the same group, were burned and died while being treated. In the same place, a worker who was working on a loading box died in May.
