[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Display announced innovation in the IT industry through OLED technology. In addition to foldable OLEDs that have already entered the popularization stage, it is predicted that slice OLEDs that can increase panels freely will be applied to smartphones and tablets within two to three years.
Jung Yong-wook, managing director of Samsung Display, introduced the company's OLED panel development direction at the 'Display Business Forum 2023' held at COEX in Seoul on the 17th.
The forum is designed to introduce the current status of the global display market, including Korea, and the direction of core technology development such as OLED and micro LED of major companies. Jung Yong-wook, managing director of Samsung Display, gave a keynote speech on the theme of "Beyond the Horizon of Design."
Samsung Display has already commercialized OLED for foldable phones through the 'Galaxy Z' series. Foldable tablets are also known to be likely to be released by the end of this year.
Asked about the prospect of commercialization of the next generation of foldable products, Chung Yong-wook said, "We are developing technology to commercialize foldable products, and we need to consult with set companies in the future," adding, "I think the product can be released within two to three years."
