[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] LG Display plans to mass-produce transparent OLED 77-inch panels later this year.
LG Display aims to diversify its applications into exhibition halls, museum retails, advertisements, office spaces, and homes by supplying transparent OLEDs of various sizes.
and we plan to start mass-producing the 77-inch UHD that we showcased at the exhibition hall at the end of this year. We raised the display penetration to 40 percent last year, but we will continue to improve it with the goal of 60 percent penetration in 2025," said Yeo Joon-ho, executive vice president of LG Display's CX Group, in a keynote speech at a business forum at the Korea Display Industry (K-display) exhibition held at COEX on the 17th.
Transparent OLED is literally a window-like transparent display. Unlike LCD, which has only 10% permeability due to polarizers and color filters, transparent OLEDs have high permeability because self-emitting displays do not require components that hinder transparency. LG Display is the only company that supplies transparent OELDs. It succeeded in mass production for the first time in December last year and has completed development up to 45% of transmittance.
