Middlemile is in the process of sending manufactured products from factories to logistics centers and dealerships. Competition is expected to intensify as IT and logistics companies such as KT, T-Map Mobility and CJ Logistics have entered the market first.
According to related industries on the 17th, Kakao Mobility is planning to launch 'Kakao T Trucker', an app for freight car owners, around October. It is a platform that connects the shipper who sends the cargo and the car owner who transports it. Like Kakao T taxi driver or proxy app, it provides shipper's volume information to car owners and supports transportation fee calculation and settlement.
The National Association of Freight Car Transport Forwarding Business (Federation), which has joined hands with Kakao Mobility, operates programs used by the shipping company. The forwarder is in charge of receiving calls from shippers and putting them on the information network. Previously, the association operated both the main company program and the car owner's app, but Kakao Mobility is in charge of the latter. The Union has exclusive access to both platforms. It is a way to secure customers (owners and car owners) from the beginning while avoiding conflicts with existing businesses (unions). To that end, Kakao Mobility became the second-largest shareholder in October last year with a 49% stake in the cargo transportation platform "Wideyard" run by the association.
Kakao Mobility plans to apply the technology accumulated from existing mobility services such as taxis to intermediate logistics. Artificial intelligence (AI) is a method of setting real-time rates according to cargo demand and supply or efficiently allocating them according to the type of goods. It is also possible to guide the optimal route of freight transportation in conjunction with Kakao Navi.
