Grape seed oil, which has been judged to be unsuitable for carcinogens and standards, is Homeplus' PB (its own product). Homeplus emphasized, "We will use this suspension as an opportunity to further strengthen PB product quality control."
Homeplus launched 'Homeplus Signature' in November 2019 and has been well received in terms of differentiation and price-to-performance ratio. Last year's sales of PB brand 'Homeplus Signature' increased by about 33% compared to 2019.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said that Benzopyrene, a carcinogen, was found to be 3.0㎍/㎏ in Homeplus' grape seed oil products, making it unsuitable for the setting standard of 2.0㎍/㎏.
Benzopyrene is an environmental hormone that causes various cancers and mutations when accumulated in the body. The product that Homeplus is collecting is a product with a shelf life of May 1, 2024, and a packaging unit of 1,000㎖.
