[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] A tentative agreement on wage and collective bargaining between labor and management of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries on the 24th was rejected in a vote for and against its members held on the 24th.

On the same day, the labor union of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries voted for and against the tentative agreement for all union members from 7 a.m. to midnight, and 5,967 out of 6,438 members voted and 4,104 (68.8%) opposed it.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' labor and management made an agreement including an increase of 120,000 won in basic salary (including a 35,000 won increase in salary), 3.5 million won in incentives, the formation of a task force (TF) to cope with the transition to the future shipbuilding industry, and sent a vote for union members.

The rejection of the tentative agreement between labor and management of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is attributed to a high wage hike by rival Hanwha Ocean. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries also set the wage level for Hanwha Ocean, but the union has not backed down due to the recent boom in the shipbuilding industry.
