[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Motor's labor union has pulled out a strike card to pressure the management in wage and collective negotiations this year. If no contact point is found by the 12th, the company plans to go on a partial strike from the 13th to the 14th.

Hyundai Motor's labor union said on the 8th that it unanimously made the decision after conducting a central dispute committee on the 7th.

The union will hold negotiations from the 11th to the 12th of this month, but plans to stage a partial strike if the management does not present a plan that meets expectations on key issues. It is the first time in five years that the union actually goes on strike.

The union is also scheduled to hold its next central committee meeting on the 14th.

Labor and management have held 21 rounds of main negotiations since June 13, but have yet to narrow their differences.

The management proposed a second wage plan that included a 106,000 won increase in basic salary and a 350% + 8.5 million won payment in incentives, but the union refused to accept it.

This year, the union is demanding a 184,900 won increase in basic salary, a 30% increase in net profit (including stocks) in the previous year, a 900% increase in bonuses, an increase and realization of various benefits, and an extension of the retirement age.

The union plans to continue negotiations on the sidelines of the strike.
