[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] "The AI gold rush has begun and the AI revolution is an unconditional opportunity for telecommunication companies," said Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, at a press conference held at SKT Tower in Euljiro, Seoul on the 26th.
To this end, the company presented a three-stage 'AI pyramid strategy'. It combines 'self-strength' and AI alliance-centered 'cooperation' model that strengthens relationships with users by upgrading AI technology and creating AI services in pyramid stages.
At the bottom, which is the most basic, is the AI infrastructure. The key is to strengthen the competitiveness of AI data centers, AI semiconductors, and multi-language models (LLM).
President Yoo pointed out, "As the AI market is in full swing, domestic data centers are causing problems such as supply shortages, overuse of power and a surge in carbon emissions."
Accordingly, SK Telecom plans to enter the global market with differentiated technology by introducing energy solutions such as liquid cooling systems and hydrogen fuel cells to help save energy, and expand the size of domestic data centers to double the current level by 2030.
