The LG Display employee who died worked an average of 13 hours a day

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] A team leader-level employee of LG Display, who died in May, suffered an average of 13.6 hours of long hours of work a day, according to a survey.

The employee was found dead in the Han River on May 19, raising suspicions that he suffered from excessive work burden and long hours of work.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 26th the results of a labor supervision related to allegations that the cause of the death of LG Display team leader-level employee A in his 40s was an excessive work burden.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, LG Display was found to have regularly violated the extended work limit by entering employees to work within the legal overtime work limit and granting substitute leave (compensation leave) through a separate system for additional working hours.

In this way, the Ministry of Employment and Labor explains that it has violated the overtime limit on a total of 251 times (a total of 7,120 hours) for 130 people. It has been revealed that the company has been managing overtime work on a monthly basis while operating a one-month selective working hour system.
