[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Regarding the succession of the group, SK Chairman Choi Tae-won said, "We have a plan, but we have not yet made it public."
"We need to think about the issue and prepare for it," Choi said in an interview with Bloomberg News on the 11th. "If I have an accident, who will lead our group? We need a succession plan." Chairman Choi added, "I have my own plan, but it is not yet open to the public."
Chairman Choi responded "mystery" to the installation of SK Hynix's advanced semiconductors on the latest smartphone "Mate 60 Pro" unveiled by China's Huawei in August. Huawei is a U.S.-designated export regulation company. SK Hynix has announced that it has not traded with Huawei since the regulation. "We are investigating how Huawei's phones are equipped with their chips," he said.
"It is very good news," Choi said. "What we have is a memory semiconductor and memory is a kind of product. There is no need to be strict about the product itself."
"The overall semiconductor market situation is not good," he said. "Oversupply is taking place, especially the memory sector is worse, which is continuing the recession for a long time, but we hope the situation will improve next year."
