The Seoul Central District Court has ruled that the two companies should pay 72.6 billion won to Samsung Heavy Industries and 1,154 billion won to SK Shipping, respectively, in a compensation suit filed against the state-run Korea Gas Corp.
Samsung Heavy Industries applied the Korean-style LNG carrier cargo window development technology to build two ships and deliver them to SK Shipping, but the operation was suspended after five months due to defects.
In response, Samsung Heavy Industries and SK Shipping filed a lawsuit against the Korea Gas Corporation, a technology developer, seeking ship repair costs and loss of ugly flights.
