[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kia's labor and management have failed to reach an agreement in this year's main negotiations on wages and collective bargaining.
While its brother Hyundai Motor, as well as three mid-sized companies, GM Korea, Renault Korea Motors, and KG Mobility, have reached a wage and collective agreement without dispute, attention is focusing on whether Kia will go on strike for the first time in three years.
Kia's labor and management held the 15th wage and collective agreement in Gwangmyeong, Autoland, for two days on the 12∼13th, but failed to reach an agreement as the union refused the management's proposal.
The union said, "The management expressed its intention to carry out their demands until the end," adding, "We declare a final breakdown."
The company proposed the seventh plan, which includes a ▲ increase in points for the second consecutive week (500,000 points →1 million points) ▲ expanding support for early childhood education (1.2 million won →2.4 million won) ▲ solving overtime and extending lunch.
It also proposed an additional proposal to build a second purpose-based mobility (PBV) plant in Autoland Hwaseong with the aim of mass production in 2028, but the union refused to accept it.
