[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Ecopro is going to expand its battery recycling business in earnest by expanding to the field of electric vehicle waste batteries.
Ecopro said on the 16th that it plans to double its production capacity by 2027 by expanding its battery recycling business.
Currently, Ecopro's battery recycling subsidiary is Ecopro C&G, which has an annual production capacity of about 30,000 tons (t).
Ecopro plans to start construction of its second plant this year, begin operation in the first quarter of next year, and build lines overseas such as Hungary and Canada to build a total production capacity of 61,000 tons in 2027.
In particular, EcoPro has decided to expand its business to electric vehicle waste batteries after recycling waste batteries from anode material lines and battery cell plants. To this end, it recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kia (000270), Hyundai Glovis, Evacycle, Gyeongbuk Province, and Gyeongbuk Techno Park to revitalize the battery ecosystem.
