[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] According to the industry on the 30th, POSCO's labor union, which belongs to POSCO's first labor union, held a vote on the dispute between the 28th and 8 p.m. on the same day.

As a result of the vote count, 10,756 (96.51%) of the total union members participated in the vote, and 8,367 (75.07%) of all union members chose to approve the strike. The opposition was 2389 (21.44%) and abstention was 389 (3.49%). Among the votes cast, 77.8% voted in favor.

Regarding this year's wage and collective negotiations, POSCO's labor union earlier proposed a △ 13.1% increase in basic pay △ 100 shares of treasury shares △ the establishment of a performance incentive (PI) system for union members △ an increase in lunch expenses. The management countered that if all the conditions demanded by the union were met, the additional cost would be about 1.6 trillion won, saying that it would be difficult to accept all of the union's demands.

POSCO's labor and management have held 24 rounds of negotiations since May, but failed to reach an agreement. Since then, the union has declared a breakdown in negotiations and has applied for mediation of the National Labor Relations Commission's dispute to secure the right to strike. If the National Labor Relations Commission decides to suspend the mediation at its final mediation meeting scheduled for the 30th, the POSCO labor union will secure the right to dispute.
