[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Despite the economic downturn, SK Networks posted operating profit in the third quarter of this year compared to the previous year.

SK Networks announced on the 8th that it recorded 2.83 trillion won and 54.8 billion won, respectively, in sales and operating profit in the third quarter of this year. Sales fell 7.8 percent on-year, but operating profit rose 36 percent.

SK Magic's contribution was the largest among its major subsidiaries. During the same period, SK Magic achieved 13.2 billion won in operating profit, up about 150 percent from a year earlier. The cumulative number of rental accounts, including the global market, exceeded 2.59 million, leading to increased profitability.

Walkerhill also recovered its performance to the pre-COVID-19 level due to an increase in overseas tourists, and supported the company's good performance. As the number of passengers at Incheon International Airport increased, the operating profit of airport lounges and transfer hotels increased. Walkerhill's operating profit rose 189% year-on-year to 2.6 billion won in the third quarter.

In the case of SK Rent-a-Car, operating profit fell slightly on-year due to a decrease in the number of Jeju tourists. During the period, SK Renter's operating profit fell 3.7% year-on-year to 41.6 billion. However, it still accounted for 75% of the total operating profit thanks to the activation of used car overseas exports.
