[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kakao CEO Hong Eun-taek apologized to shareholders for causing concern over what happened during the acquisition of SM Entertainment.

CEO Hong said in a conference call to announce Kakao's third-quarter performance, which was conducted alone due to the absence of investment CEO Bae Jae-hyun, who was arrested on the 9th, saying, "I am sorry for causing concern to Kakao shareholders with various negative news that occurred in the process of taking over the management rights of SM Entertainment."

"We will feel the growing social responsibility with the growth of the company, and we will reconsider the framework of the company's management and proceed with the reorganization," CEO Hong said. "As minimizing business risks is the top priority for shareholders, we will proceed with the ongoing projects without a hitch."

Hong announced that he will launch an 'AI content bot' combined with the open chat of Kakao Talk in the near future for the artificial intelligence (AI) business strategy, the future growth engine of Kakao. The company plans to carry out technical demonstration within this year and release it as soon as possible.
