[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LG Electronics is going to target the fast-growing U.S. electric vehicle charger market with its slow and fast electric vehicle charger lineup.
LG Electronics made an announcement on the 16th that it will release a slow charger capable of charging at 11kW (kilowatt) and a rapid charger capable of charging at 175kW in the U.S. market within the first half of 2024.
11kW slow chargers are free to use space, such as attaching or erecting them on walls. In addition, it will be equipped with a load management solution that automatically controls output according to power conditions in commercial spaces where chargers such as shopping malls and marts are installed, providing stable quality charging services even with limited power capacity.
The 175kW rapid charger supports two charging methods at the same time, CCS1 (Integrated Charging System) and NACS (North American Charging Standard). Outside the charger, a touch display will be applied to check the charging status and provide additional revenue opportunities through advertisements. In the second half of 2024, the company plans to strengthen its product competitiveness by expanding its fast charger lineup suitable for commercial and long-distance travel.
With LG's entry, competition among companies over the leadership of the US electric car charger market is expected to become fiercer.
