[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] KT is set to reorganize its organization and appoint executives for the first time since Kim Young-seop took office. It is widely expected that CEO Kim, a former Chief Financial Officer (CFO), will lead to major changes based on his business feasibility. Among them, the major changes are the reorganization of the artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX) convergence business division, which was newly established under former CEO Koo Hyun-mo, and the recruitment of new legal professionals to strengthen compliance management.

According to Kyunghyang Shinmun on the 27th, it is expected that there will be a big change in AI and DX convergence business in and out of KT. KT established the relevant sector through reorganization ahead of the inauguration of former representative Koo in January 2020. However, CEO Kim, who took office in August, received a business report and diagnosed that it was necessary to reorganize it in line with market trends.

In this regard, it is said that CEO Kim specifically ordered changes in businesses such as robots, logistics, and digital health care. In the meantime, businesses whose sales or operating profit have not met expectations may undergo a change in the level of the original review. Some say that four out of 12 executive positions in the AI and DX convergence business sectors are included in the reorganization list.

The AI business also seems inevitable to change its direction. KT held a press conference at the KT Research and Development Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul last month and launched the super-large AI 'Mi: DM'. However, contrary to expectations, there were many reactions that they were curious because Kim did not attend the meeting in person.

There are also rumors among employees that Kim could go through labor-management negotiations and start restructuring to the extent necessary. Specifically, those born in 1967 will be subject to the wage peak system starting next year, with the gist being to lay off 2,000 employees born between 1968 and 1972.
