[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] An in-house ethics committee launched an investigation after a senior Kakao executive was found to have used abusive language against his employees during the meeting.

The executive is also the first member of the Compliance and Trust Committee, which Kakao recently launched with the aim of strengthening compliance and ethical management.

According to related industries on the 29th, Kim Jung-ho, head of management support, swore loudly for about 10 minutes in front of team leader-level employees at a meeting held at Kakao Pangyo Agit on the 22nd.

Kim is known to have cursed and screamed enough to be heard by most of the employees on the same floor as well as the conference room.

Kim, general manager of management support, started as a co-working member of Naver and has created and operated a social enterprise 'Bearbetter' since 2012 to help start-ups and employment of people with developmental disabilities. He was the chairman of Brian Impact, a foundation created by Kakao founder Kim Bum-soo this year, and has been in charge of management support at the Kakao CA Council since September. In addition, former Supreme Court Justice Kim So-young is the only in-house member of the Compliance and Trust Committee, an organization that monitors Kakao's Compliance Management.

"It is true that (Kim) used inappropriate terms once during a meeting with the heads of the organizations at around 4 p.m. on the 22nd," a Kakao official said. "We are checking the details and facts."

"That kind of verbal abuse in front of a large number of employees constitutes harassment in the workplace," an employee of Kakao said. "Who is an in-house member of the compliance and trust committee who ignores the Labor Standards Act?"

The controversy over Kim's management support was reported to have been delivered to Kakao's standing ethics committee through an internal hotline report.

The standing ethics committee, which consists of employees of various positions, job groups and ages, including management, was suspended for three months for the misappropriation of a corporate card by a finance officer in September.
