[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Prosecutors appealed against the second trial's ruling on Hana Bank's hiring scandal by Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo.

On the 29th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office filed an appeal against Ham's ruling on the appeal of the case, including obstruction of business.

The prosecution said, "The second trial court found him guilty of discrimination against men and women and involvement in the process of selecting some successful candidates, but two other applicants were found not guilty and there is a violation of misunderstanding of the law."

It also filed an appeal against the appellate court's acquittal of Jang Ki-yong, former vice president of Hana Bank, on charges of obstruction of business, saying, "There is a violation of the law."

Chairman Ham also filed an appeal with the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Appeals Department 1 (Presiding Judge Woo In-sung), which reviewed the appeal on the 24th.

Earlier on the 23rd, the appellate court sentenced Ham, who was indicted on charges of obstruction of business and violation of the Gender Equality Act, to six months in prison and two years of probation. It overturned the first trial that acquitted him.

Ham is suspected of intervening in the hiring process at the request of an acquaintance in 2015 when he was serving as president of Hana Bank. He is also suspected of violating the Gender Equality Act by setting the ratio of new employees to men and women in advance from 2013 to 2016.
