[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Daesang Holdings, which had been suspended for a day due to investment warning items, hit another upper limit on the first day of trading resumption, signaling the designation of investment risk stocks.
On the 5th, Daesang Holdings closed at 36,900 won, up 8,500 won (29.93%) from the previous trading day.
The Korea Exchange announced after the closing of the market on the day, "Daesang Holdings is currently an investment warning item, and the designation of investment risk items and trading may be suspended in the future as the stock price continues to rise."
The designation notice date is the 6th, and the reason for the designation notice is that the closing price of the day rose more than 45% from the closing price of the previous day.
If all of the ultra-short-term surge conditions are met within 10 days from the date of pre-announcement of designation, they may be designated as investment risk items and trading may be suspended on the following day.
Previously, the Korea Exchange suspended trading on Daesang Holdings on the 1st. The move comes after stock prices surged more than 40% for more than two days even after being designated as an investment warning item.
It jumped 270.3% during this period alone, hitting the upper limit for five consecutive trading days from the 27th of last month to the 1st of this month. It has soared 381% from the closing price of 7,670 won on the 24th to the closing price of 36900 won on the day.
Daesang Holdings began to soar last month after it was revealed that Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon met actor Lee Jung-jae at a restaurant in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
Minister Han and Lee Jung-jae are alumni of Hyundai High School in Apgujeong, Seoul, and Daesang Holdings and preferred shares, of which Lee Jung-jae's longtime lover, Vice Chairman Lim Se-ryong, have drawn attention amid growing expectations that Han will run in next year's general elections.
On the other hand, investment warning stocks must pay 100% of the consignment margin when purchasing and cannot be purchased with credit loans. Trading will be suspended for one day at the same time as the designation, and trading may be suspended for one day if stock prices soar further.
