[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Regarding allegations that Samsung's digital signage products (commercial displays installed in public places) violated competitors' patents, the U.S. authorities concluded that there were no legal problems.

According to industry sources on the 8th, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) decided last month that there was no violation of related laws after investigating a case filed by U.S. display maker Manufactoring Resources International (MRI) against outdoor signage products by Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDS, claiming patent infringement.

MRI earlier filed a complaint with ITC against Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDS, claiming that the cooling system applied to Samsung's signage display infringed on patents held by MRI, which violated the provisions of the Customs Act, which illegally stipulates the import of patented and copyrighted products into the U.S.

ITC's decision is a preliminary judgment at the executive level. It usually takes about six months for the court to make a final decision. Samsung Electronics predicted that the same judgment will be maintained in court.
