The new 'all-solid battery (ASB) commercialization promotion team' is a direct organization within Samsung SDI's mid- to large-sized battery division. Ko Joo-young, vice president of the marketing team of the mid- to large-sized battery division, will lead the team.
All-solid batteries are characterized by replacing electrolytes that transmit ions between the anode and the anode with solids from existing liquids. It is evaluated to be ahead in terms of safety and performance. It is also called a "dream battery" because it has the advantage of higher energy density and less risk of fire or explosion than conventional lithium-ion batteries. Samsung SDI plans to speed up the current project through the new team. Samsung SDI announced its goal of commercializing all-solid batteries by 2027.
