[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LIG Nex1 is promoting the acquisition of management rights of Ghost Robotics, a famous US robot developer. It is a stepping stone to enter the US defense market through the acquisition of Ghost Robotics, famous for robot dogs.
LIG Nex1 announced on August 8 that it will acquire a 60% stake in Ghost Robotics. However, the deal is not closed. It will acquire a 60% stake in Ghost Robotics for 314.9 billion won and the deal will be closed on June 30 next year. LIG Nex1 will invest 187.6 billion won in a special purpose company (SPC) called LNGR LCC and LNGR will acquire a 60% stake in Ghost Robotics. Korea Investment Private Equity (PE) will also participate in this acquisition. Approval from the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) remains in the future.
Ghost Robotics is a Philadelphia-based company that produces quadruped walking robots. It is especially famous for its military quadruped walking robot. The Vision 60, a military model, is also considered to be the best military walking robot in the world. The longest driving time of Vision 60 is 210 minutes, which is 2 hours longer than Boston Dynamics acquired by Hyundai Motor Group.
